I hope, that you don't mind about translating your movies? In website information I pasted a link to YT of Jill's Song with my language subtitles (Poland).

I enjoyed this beautiful piece immensly; it practically mirrors my own harrowing experience with love, sans the end.

That was amazing, truly remarkable. The only thing that sort og bugs me about this (and it's by no means your fault) is how the eyelids look. They're all square and unnatural. Other than that this has to be one of the best machinimas I have ever seen, not to mention the first serious machinima. |

This is Incredible...
I have been watching machinima for a few years now,
and... This is the movie that I have been waiting for.
Lit fuse Films is the first serious machinima developer that has made a video that I have cried at.
I see the gracefullness of the.. flow of the song... and the rhythm of the speach given...
I see... The characters actually having depth in their personality...
At my workplace, I have listened to this... This powerful
piece, compared it to my own feelings of love...
and Then, I cried...
10 out of 10...
This movie is recommended highly.
If you want to see an intelligent and deep video, watch this.
again... 10 out of 10... |

I cried so hard during this. My girlfriend broke up with me a couple of weeks ago for someone else and I could really relate to it. Really was very emotional, powerful. All his words just sum up exactly how I feel and its such a beautiful way to do it. Incredible, really.
Thanks. |

An amazing piece of art! |

A work of art. Since this is a part of a bigger thing i cant wait to see what the bigger picture is. When it had a static effect ant the background changed, was that a prison? |

Mmm...how do I put this...
In the generic movies and tv shows and animes and even books, the guy always get the girl in the end. But what happens after the end? The lovestruck couple don't always have that flair from the beginning. It dies down with time...and when that time comes...it's a sad tale. But very few talk about it. Only in dramas.
Love has many different colors. Different people act differently when in love. But everyone has that same feeling of warmth inside their heart when with the one they truly love. And yet...joy, anger, sorrow, jealousy, laughter...these feelings are in all love lives of couples.
This....this is a work of art. Music can convey every emotion...every feeling...every color in the human heart. And tying together the simple workings of a song into the very essence of love...masterfully done.
The piano solo was very touching, and the voice acting just superb. It was just tied together so well you could lose yourself in the truth of his words. So believe me when I say I had to pause it when the hallucination showed, purely in shock. And the grim reality came crashing down in an instant. And that...was extremely powerful.
I love it in every way. |
2008-07-05 05:46:52 Cathal F
|
My god, that was intense...
Such beauty, such rhythm, and Jack's speech on the beginning of love really hit home.
Your best work by far. |

Incredible, just incredible. I was brought here after checking out Ignis Solus, and just had to check this out. That was amazing, and the pacing was perfect with the twisting. Even better, the way Jack speaks about the crescendo in the music speaks volumes, because I was lulled into believing the movie was in its own crescendo... until the end broke all illusions on that front.
That was stellar, keep it UP! |

Picking up where Dom left off, when the camera showed the top-down view of the piano Jill's entire body seemed crooked, her left pinky and ring fingers weren't on the keys at all.
Just a minor nit-pic. |

Well it's indeed one beautiful of a film. But I for myself found a little thing that works out kinda strange - and at least for me destroyed the awesomeness of the Song (which I really love - very beautiful arrangement there!)
Actually if you watch Jill playing the song... her finger movement is serious out of action with the playing (like playing accords but she just tips with her fingers like in an arpeggio). Especially the scene where she's shown from top angle and playing at the lower notes (left one's) while the music rises with beautiful high accords on the upper part of the Piano - that threw me out of the beautifulness this Movie (or actually Trailer? ;-) ) could have inhabitet.
Well, maybe I'm just somewhat of "over-critical" because I'm a piano player myself.
Next time I hope for a perfect finger synchronisation in kind of scenes, which that movie shows.
Still excellent work!
I'll give it a 9/10 |
2008-06-08 15:04:41 Tom
|
Beautifully done, guys.
An excellent piece, with a Piano backing that, while not having any real structure, fit the dialogue very well. An excellent Monologue, a beautiful metaphor for Love, though Jack's expression worried me at times.
Then, after the Silence, the 'interference', the staticy drop into this alternate view and back, excellent attention-grabbing device, coupled with a more sinister tone of voice and direction of the Monlogue.
Pure brilliance, guys. 10/10.
I just hope that you have more excellent songs in store - Half of what I love about you guys are your variety of songs! |

I went into this skeptical, especially since some of the voice acting in Machinima is lukewarm at best (especially for anything other then slapstick). However, this was a pleasant surprise, the monologue was delivered with sincerity and it brought a very powerful script to life.
I think it'll be interesting how filming this within the source engine affects the impact of the upcoming full feature if it is written and acted like this. |
2008-06-04 12:58:04 Chris F
|
Wow! That was a really great movie! Pretty touching and sad. You guys really make machinima more like real life. |

I think this is your finest work yet. I really liked it. It felt like the pacing was off at some points, possibly a side-effect of trying to synch the narration with the song? The talk about love could have been a bit better, I think, but I am satisfied myself nevertheless. My biggest problem is that the lines weren't always delivered clearly enough. Perhaps it's because English is not my mother tongue but I would appreciate it if it was a bit better. I was disappointed that I missed the last line somewhere between my own incompetence and the background noise.
Anyway, keep up the good work! :) |

Very nice work guys!
Great storyline, leaving a lot of questions, lining it up for a sequel that will be much anticipated. Can't wait to see more of Jack, seems like a great twisted, torn character.
Great faceposing, and I liked the custom animation for the piano as well.
Whoever designed the set should be commended as well. It was absolutely amazing. That looked like a real physotrist's(?) office, not some pre-made valve map that was convenient for the shot.
Lars did an amazing job with the music, which comes as no big surprise at all.
Great script, great film. Can't wait to see more.
Editing was great, I liked the faded edge look |

Jill's Song is truly a masterpiece to be remembered.
The story truly touched me, and made me relate to Jack Stone myself. I suggest extending this into something bigger, maybe make a large scale machinima from this
Ifyou entered this movie in a contest I am sure you would end up being a finalist and a have a chance of winning.

It's like a long, deep foreshadowing that hints towards something much bigger, but I don't like thinking of it as just that, I like to think of this movie as beautiful on it's own.
It was very good, very emotional, and very well done, and was very different from the Lit Fuse norm of quirky comedy. Good show, my boy, good show! |
