Blarsa - Tonight

This marks our first Ableton Live project together, I (Brian) turned Lars onto Live not long ago. This tune was inspired by Wolfgang Gartner and Justice – the way all the bass sounds flow beside each other one at a time and how the grunge guitar synth compliments the beat in a sense. This is our first attempt at this kind of genre.

Yeah. Why don’t you get back to making some good machinima instead of techno music.

tough crowd…i liked it! very nice :)

Zucco, that’s Rob, Michael, and Zach’s department. Not ours, we’re just the backbone support that makes their work look a bit better than it would otherwise. Also it isn’t Techno, far from it actually, but thanks anyway sir.

Awesome music you guys, I’m sure my friends will enjoy this in their cars like they do with Rock Star remix.

    Zucco, Yeah, No.

Great job you guys. You really did make it sound justicey, partcularilly Waters of Nazareth towards the beginning

I love me some electro. Justice, Daft Punk, Ratatat, Hot Chip, Aphex Twin… on and on. And don’t get me wrong, it was a good song. It’s just, I subscribe to this feed for some good vids from the Lit Fuse boys and I got music. Just a bit confused.

I really liked that! The vocoded vocals were great, fit nicely with the kinda dirty sound of the song. Good work!

Hey guys, missed this one until now.

The switch to Live (assuming this was all made in Live) has pushed your production values up nicely :) Some excellent sounds in here, and that duck-comping in the second section is perfect!

The opening sounds distinctly like something in my housemate’s party-music playlist but I don’t know who it’s by or what it’s called but I guess it must be by one of those ppl you referenced. You know the sort of thing: it’s got a fat bass line and has some splice/glitch elements to it.

I know I critisiced your last endeavour together. . . none of that this time chaps.

Thanks oggy, always open to criticism. Helps us hear/see things we might have overlooked. There are a few minor things I might have changed now after releasing, for instance the guitar synth, I might have brought the mids down a bit, nothing major just subtle and the vocals, they’re not always as clear as I’d want them to be in certain parts but for the most part they’re alright.

Of course, the things that I noticed were minor enough not to mention really. It all comes down to personal taste. I personally didn’t notice that the “guitar synth” was supposed to be a guitar first time round!

I know what you mean about the vocals, though, in places the ducking harms the intelligibility.

Fantastic use of a vocoder. Sidechaining a compressor on the pads. Nice modern club tune. What vocoder are you using?

  18. 18 Larsa

god old reason 4 vocoder :)

  19. 19 Brian

Actually in this one it’s Ableton Live’s vocoder lol, Lars be mixin’ up his software vocoders.
